~ The name Žemyna comes from the Baltics; a goddess in ancient Lithuanian culture, symbolizing “fertile earth”. I found the name most suitable for this tree, inspired by the colorful fungi that was growing all around the wet earth in which she remained; her evanescence bringing forth new life.
~ Kręta is a rare Polish name meaning winding, twisting, or meandering… it goes without saying why I chose this name for this tree; a compliment to her mesmerizing scrolled patterns of growth, and long roots wandering and stretching out from beneath her.
~ Adamina is the feminine form of the Hebrew name Adam, meaning “child of the red earth”. A tribute to this Red Cedar’s foundational role as a biological grandmother in the forest she resides; drawing minerals and pigment from the soil, extending the literal “red earth” into the sky.
